LEVY COUNTY SCHOOLS FOUNDATION RECEIVES $25,000 DONATION

FROM SUNCOAST CREDIT UNION

(May 6, 2020) – The Levy County Schools Foundation is proud to announce a $25K donation from Suncoast Credit Union, Florida’s largest credit union. The donation is part of the credit union’s million dollar COVID-19 coronavirus relief contribution established as a corporate response to aid in the resulting problem solving created by the virus.

“These funds will go a very long way to assist with projects associated with virtual learning and will help the district overcome some of the obstacles it’s faced during the Covid-19 pandemic,” said Director Annie Whitehurst. “Our first priority is helping students who do not have internet, which makes virtual learning impossible and it simply wouldn’t be possible without this very generous donation.”

The Levy County Schools Foundation was selected to receive funds due to the need, viability and sustainability, with consideration to the Mission, Vision and Core Values of Suncoast Credit Union.

“While we are focused on supporting our members financially, we feel a moral obligation to support other basic needs during this very challenging time. We admire and are inspired by other charitable organizations who are providing relief through private donations like ours,” said Suncoast Credit Union President & CEO Kevin Johnson. “People are struggling through no fault of their own and because of the support of our Board of Directors, Suncoast is committed to doing what we can to address these serious needs.”

This donation is the first of its size during the credit union’s 86 year history. According to foundation director, Annie Whitehurst, this is the largest single donation to the foundation in over five years! “This donation is huge. There’s no other way to put it. Thank you doesn’t seem sufficient, but that’s all we know to say. Suncoast has been so good to the Levy County Schools Foundation – they truly do put their money where their mouth is. They say they support the communities they are in and they DO, over and over again,” Whitehurst added.
